Do you realise your thoughts carry their own temperature? Your soul leaks a heat waiting to be read. I make it my business to test your temperature. Your true self can be detected, hot or cold. It’s your heart’s heat that opens itself to me like a flower. It’s your heart’s heat that betrays you.
My kind depend upon our special sensors. You cannot hide your temperature from my kind, and most of you don’t even try. But my enemies are different. They try to mask their temperature because I might recognise them and escape. Or because I might recognise them and destroy them. Sometimes I have no choice. Sometimes I do. This is the story of a recent moment in my history, when I made a choice and took action. Judge me as you will.
Very well written – sensuous and intelligent writing – and compelling, with enough mystery to compel further reading – what ‘kind’ is the narrator? And what will we have to judge?
