Think about the position of your narrative ‘camera’ and go inside your character in order to give the reader access to the protagonist’s ruminations and reflections.
Magdalena pretended to be dead. Her beautiful face was dismal grey through the protective resin. She observed the room without opening her eyes. Her system barely acknowledged a trace of life. The feigned oblivion tempered her rage. Gave her enemy nothing to feast on. At times, the days of sameness in this Amber Palace had nearly destroyed her. But now her forced waiting in this cage of cloying resin ceased to upset her. She had adapted: reclaimed her mind’s equilibrium; altered her sensors.
There is always a way -dare yourself to find it. Trust your oldest ways.
