A gorgeous outing for all those worshippers of irony and the perfectly formed ankle. This film is a homage to shoes, jackets, hair, breasts colour.and the devastating put down. The only neglected sense was the nose and if the cinema had been flooded with the scent of red D & G then this would have been heaven indeed!
Meryl Streep whispers her infinite demands in a voice that remained an enemy to intimacy throughout the film- every list curtailed by the careless casuality of ‘that’s all.’ For the first half hour I think the audience were as jumpy as Miranda’s ( Meryl Streep) staff. The ascendancy of the heroine and her elation at Paris reminded me of Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman….everyone was tapping their feet thinking ‘go girl!’
Wonderful.Makes you wnat to surf Ebay as soon as you get home.
