DHLawrence Virgin and Gypsy

My overridng impression of the story is that it deals with ani individaul trying to escape suffocating restriction, Ironically perhaps these restrictions are ‘housed’ in a home, and need to be acknowledged before they can be defeated. But perhasp it is the reader who is left to theorise the complexirties of the desire to leave? For Yvette remains unknowing  in terms of any final verdict on her home and the narrative viewpoint suggests more than the protgonist is prepared to face directly.

Love the ritualistic detail. The home is death driven and a ‘new country’ is sought..an exit from the unsufferability of the present. Does the existence of the exit( as the gypsy)  alleviate the anxiety? And why should she need rescuing by a male notably from another social class? However the feminine also propels the stagnant present momnet into a new future ..a repetition of the first rupture caused by She -who was cynthia but then not the same? Cleansing…breaks the cycle?
