Miranda July: Ten True Things

We grew still and looked at each other. It seemed incredibly dangerous to look into each other’s eyes, but we were doing it. For how long can you behold another person? Before you have to think of yourself again, like dipping the brush back in for more ink.

Seymour manages to breathe new life into the age old fascination with the gaze. This reads seamlessly and edgily as it seems to capture the very evolution of the event before us. And then the inky simile is wonderfully apt for the freshness of intimacy and connection, it underlines the spontaneity and improvisation of acknowledgement – as well as the need for recuperation!

Full of surprises and quirkiness.
