Settlement.

Last week I walked my three lurchers into a good mood. Me rather than them. They tend to be rather more consistently sweet natured than me. And as I walked myself into a new  mood, I found the word ‘settlement’ just floated into my head and settled there.

For just doing something, an action , however ordinary, and probably necessarily ordinary, can shift away one agitated and distinctly unhelpful guest from the mind and body. And writing I find helps this process of letting things be so easily for me. The simple act of starting to type and finding a word on the keyboard and then watching it appear on the screen settles something, perhaps like sand in a tumbler.

Perhaps, it is something about being simply present. For when I feel here, present just typing and enjoying the escape from time’s regimentation, there is a letting go into peace, a bringing down from the breathless types of attention paid to mostly out there worries, things often way beyond my control, and then there is this, finding a word, hearing it, seeing it, possibly changing it and then the settling into a flow.

Settling into a flow.

Settlements. Respite. Hereness.

Whereness. Hereness.

Foundness.
