Wolf Tales.
In 2007 as examples for my English Tuition/tutoring in Bolton/Manchester, I wrote a few short prose poems( if that is what they were) about wolves, inspired in part by a visionary scene in Lean’s Dr Zhivago where the poet – hero is writing in his arctic hut and is suddenly made aware of the proximity(propinquity) of wolves just at the edge of his imagination and gaze. Zhivago is mesmerized and so are we-like being in love with a very ambivalent, dangerous lover!

Your eyes more wilderness than prayer
That unholy winter’s night became you.
stand
grey
heartedly
alone to
dare
their ridged darkness
promised
blood –
our lost places
uncover souls’

only you
and my undivided
attention

a gaze
raw
enough
to
burn
