Entrance Examinations: Last minute tips!

Punctuation Section.
Remember that if the section is a passage, then the lines will run over. Read it as a whole. It is essential to check the beginning and end of each line, just in case capital letters are wrongly used.
Capital Letters.
Proper nouns.
Places, names, titles, cities, countries….
Brackets and Speech Marks.
Make sure the are both open and closed.
Plurals
Do not need an apostrophe.
Check for possession, contraction.
Apostrophes.
Only for ownership or omission.
Commas.
In a list.
To differentiate clauses.
Never for a full stop.
Never before AND!
Full Colon
When using a LIST
Semi-colons or dashes.
Check they are not creating unnecessary pauses in the passage.
