This one seems more agitated and physically ‘shocked’ to me? Tension between the disciples and the Inn keeper palpable.they are struggling to believe? Christ looks beardless and different to them? Do they wish to stay or to flee? Both seem possible.
We are only too aware of the marks of the cross on Christ’s hands. he has a story to tell and we feel the reined in energy of Christ. Resurrection has fulfilled his assigned destiny and he is on the brink of everlastingness and departure?
More tranquil and accepting of the resurrection? Gazes all look towards Christ who seems quietly assured and spiritually peaceful. Shadows seem to enshroud the moment and hold it forever. A removed very private space somehow? They are lovingly attentive and relaxed in the face of Christ’s resurrection?
