My study is overflowing: yet today in rediscovering an old collection of short stories called Black Water(Manguel), which all explore the ‘Fantastic’ in one way or another- be they ghost stories, science fiction or just plain strange tales of the unexpected, I was reunited with a wonderful friend.
This is because the dedication to the book is by Robert Louis Stevenson – Mr Tusitala himself. And this is a quotation I have been looking for on and off for years, but never rediscovered until today.
The knowledge that another has felt as we have felt, and seen things, even if they are little things, not much otherwise than we have seen them, will continue to the end to be one of life’s choicest pleasures.
