Today I noticed a man paying complete attention to a field of sheep. He stood looking calmly at the sheep and as far as I could tell, they stood looking quietly back at him. Perfectly quiet. Everyone just being for that moment, themselves in the grey sunshine of 9am.
As I drove on, I wondered why I noticed this small event. Perhaps because all around the sheep and the man was ‘business’ and Friday morning lateness. Yet there, for a special moment, was this unique stillness.
And attention.
Like breathing deeply without effort or trouble.
Authentic attention.
